A monument honouring the memory of Grand Duke Jean, who passed away on 23 April at the age of 98, is to be erected in Luxembourg.
As announced following the government council meeting on 15 May, the decision was made to “start preparations for the erection of a monument in his memory”, although thus far no indication has been made concerning where the monument will be located.
Earlier the same day, petition 1286, launched by “Comité Alstad”, was approved and will soon be open for signatures. The petition requests that a memorial to the monarch be erected on the Marché-aux-Poissons.
The council added that details would be forthcoming.
