Adolf El Assal’s comedy set in Luxembourg is now available as video-on-demand.
“Sawah” tackles subjects of identity and the plight of refugees arriving in Europe, but is very much a comedy. The story follows the exploits of a Skaarab, an Egyptian DJ who sets off to perform at a major event in Brussels after winning a contest back home. But his flight is diverted to Luxembourg and after a series of mishaps, he ends up stranded in the grand duchy. Much hilarity ensues, as the saying goes.
Egyptian star Karim Kassem plays Skaarab and the film also stars Congolese actor Eric Kabongo and Belgian veteran Jean-Luc Couchard as well as familiar local actors Nilton Martins, Elisabet Johannesdottir and Paul Robert.
The multilingual film is available for the next 4 weeks, with an English subtitle option, via vod.lu as well as on Post TV and Tango TV.
