The biggest party of the year takes place on 22 June, the eve of National Day.
Still referred to colloquially as “Duke’s Night” by expats, the 22 June eve of National Day events include outdoor stages with live music and DJs playing until dawn, a torchlight parade and the biggest fireworks display in the region.
The parade starts at 9.20 p.m. on the grand rue and follows a route along rue du Fossé, rue Notre-Dame, and rue de l’Ancien Athénée to boulevard F. D. Roosevelt – where royalty and dignitaries gather at the official tribune.
The fireworks display is scheduled to start at 11 p.m. and lasts around 17 minutes.
Live music shows on the place Guillaume II include performances from ska group Toxkäpp, folk-rockers Schëppe 7, hip-hop icons De Läb and rock veterans Moof.
