Jazz vocalist extraordinaire Cécile McLorin Salvant returns to the Phil for a third time this week.
No stranger to Luxembourg, Cécile McLorin Salvant played the Wiltz festival with her quartet in 2014 and then the chamber music room at the Phil that autumn, and the main room at the Philharmonie in May 2018.
This time she returns with just a pianist in the shape of Sullivan Fortner, with whom she won a Grammy this year for their album “The Window” (with some tenor sax contributions from Melissa Aldana).
A truly mesmerizing performer, McLorin Salvant sings vaudeville, country blues, Broadway songs, rarities, and her own compositions. An audience member once described her as a “postmodern cabaret singer”.
