The Schueberfouer kicks off this Friday and runs until 11 September.
Attracting two million visitors each year, the Schueberfouer funfair is a highlight of the summer season. Covering some 4.44ha of the Glacis car park in Limpertsberg, it is a sensory overload packed with screaming ride passengers and over-excited barkers, the hiss of hydraulics and the boom of cheap techno, flashing lights and garishly dressed men and women on the pull, and the smell of greasy deep-fried food (including the irresistible Grompererkichelcher) and artificially flavoured candy.
All the usual stands and rides will be at the fair--from the dangerously tempting Schwarzwald hut to the more sedate big wheel (photo Luxembourg for Tourism), the Am Stall restaurant/entertainment venue and the hair-raising BoosterMaxx 4G ride.
A bunch of new attractions have also0 been announced and the most popular will undoubtedly be the Alpina Bahn, which was once Europe’s largest travelling rollercoaster, Intoxx and Techno Power, which are both rides with spinning and axis-rotating arms.
The fair is open from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. Monday-Thursday, with an extension until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Parking in and around the fair is notoriously difficult, so best to use a Park & Ride and public transport--the“Theater” and “Faïencerie” tram stops are adjacent to the fair grounds.
